PHABLET
If we mix the word Phone and Tablet. we will
get Phablet. we will talk about this new device Phablet. what are its
advantages and disadvantages.
If the Samsung Galaxy Note sounds, you can
perfectly understand what we are going to talk about today in this article. The
Phablet are, to understand it simply, half Smartphone and half Tablet, that is,
phones larger than a traditional Smartphone but smaller than a tablet. Its size
varies between 5 and 7 inches measured diagonally.
Its most important feature is its screen, so
we can say that a Phablet or Tablet is a Tablet with the most complete features
of a Smartphone.
WHAT ARE THE PHABLET US
FOR?
Like the Tablet and Smartphone, Phablet offers
us the options to call, send text messages, touch screen, virtual keyboard,
integrated camera, webcam, custom applications, etc. They usually use 3G or 4G
technology for calls and built-in Wi-Fi technology.
The Phablet are definitely a hybrid of a
Tablet and a Smartphone with the main advantage of being more comfortable to
carry than a Tablet because they are smaller.
WHAT ADVANTAGES AND
DISADVANTAGES DO THE PHABLET HAVE?
The main advantages of the Phablet are the
following:
- They are more comfortable. With the Phablet
we can carry a single device on top, instead of having to carry our
tablet and our Smartphone.
- Its size is adequate and offers 2
technologies in one.
- Your battery lasts much longer than that of
a Smartphone.
- Access to all applications offered by
Smartphones and Tablets.
- Its built-in cameras are usually 8
Megapixel or more, while the Smartphone is usually less.
- The image and sound quality is much higher
than the traditional Smartphone.
- They usually have 4-core processors and 2
GB of RAM.
- If with a Tablet we could not make Video
Calls with the Phablet if we can and they are also ideal for it since
their screens are larger and of better
resolution and quality than the Smartphone.
- They weigh about a third less than the
Tablet.
- Some models are resistant to water and
dust.
Although we may think that they are
uncomfortable to make calls because they are somewhat larger than the
Smartphone, we will say that the main use we give to our Smartphones is for
navigation, emails, applications, games , social networks ... etc, staying in a
10% use to make calls.
But as always, they also have their
disadvantages and this is where each one has to see the use he makes of his
devices and if he compensates one or the other. The main disadvantages of the
Phablet are:
- As always the price. It is quite high and
not everyone can access them, although they
will surely end up going down over time. The
cheapest cost about 400 euros. In the next question we will talk about
Prices and brands.
- To make calls are considered too large
devices, but you also have to keep in mind that
we use them less and less to call.
- On the contrary, they are considered too
small to be a Tablet and maybe it can be uncomfortable to watch movies, videos
... etc
- The touch screen is usually handled with a
pencil like the old Smartphone.
- Apple does not yet have these devices on
the market, but it is rumored that it is already thinking about getting into
this
niche market. Will they be called iPhablet ?
- At the moment the surveys conclude that
most users prefer to have a device for everything. The
tablet on the one hand and the Smartphone on
the other, but it's all a matter of time. (Ex: a decade ago we wanted the
smallest
mobile possible and now our Smartphone are
bigger because they offer us functions that
require a larger screen size).
- We need 2 hands to handle them. Its width
does not allow you to hold it with one hand and stretch our
thumbs to access its functions as we can do
with most Smartphone.
- Our garments (especially pockets) are not
ready to be worn, such as our
Smartphone.
WHAT BRANDS CAN WE FIND
IN THE CURRENT MARKET?
The main houses that offer this device are
SAMSUNG , LG and SONY , among others.
WHAT FUTURE DO YOU WAIT
FOR PHABLET?
The world's best known and most important
companies that manufacture these devices are struggling so that in the
short-medium term we replace our Smartphone with Phablet that offer us more
advantages than inconveniences, although we do not know if the defenders of the
Tablets will fall into this temptation.
